Hypnotherapy for burnout and nervous system dysregulation.

Burnout isn't tiredness. It's nervous system dysregulation — the body locked in sympathetic activation, unable to genuinely downregulate even when nothing is currently threatening. Rest doesn't fix it because rest isn't the missing input. Hypnotherapy works at the layer where the dysregulation actually lives.

What's actually happening in burnout

The clinical picture: prolonged stress activates the sympathetic nervous system. In ordinary recovery, the parasympathetic system reactivates and brings the body back to baseline. In burnout, that return doesn't happen. The body stays in low-grade activation. Sleep gets thin. Digestion struggles. The capacity to feel pleasure narrows. Decision-making degrades. Emotional range collapses.

What makes it persistent: the dysregulation isn't only behavioral. It's encoded. The subconscious has learned the pattern of constant vigilance, and it doesn't unlearn that by being told to rest. Even on vacation the system stays activated, because it's been trained to.

Conscious approaches — better sleep hygiene, meditation, time off — help at the margins but don't reset the underlying pattern. The pattern lives below conscious awareness.

What burnout actually looks like in Marina's practice

Clients often arrive describing 'just tired' but the picture is usually more specific:

How hypnotherapy intervenes

The work has two layers. The first is direct downregulation — Marina guides you into the parasympathetic state your body has forgotten how to access on its own. The depth of that state during a session is usually more restorative than weeks of attempted rest. Many clients describe the first session as the first genuine downregulation they've experienced in years.

The second layer is reconfiguring the pattern. The subconscious has been running a vigilance program — Marina works with that program directly. Why it started. What it's protecting against. What it would take for it to feel safe enough to stand down. That work is precise, somatic, and unlike anything talk therapy reaches.

The combination — repeated direct experience of genuine parasympathetic state, plus subconscious work on the pattern itself — is what produces lasting nervous-system reset. One session helps. A series resets the baseline.

Burnout isn't a sign that you're not doing enough self-care. It's a sign that the subconscious has learned a survival pattern that no longer serves you. The fix isn't more discipline — it's working with the pattern at the layer where it actually lives.

Why somatic + hypnotic together

Marina's approach for burnout integrates clinical hypnotherapy with somatic tracking and shamanic practice. The hypnotherapy provides access to the subconscious patterns. The somatic work ensures the body actually downregulates, not just the mind. The shamanic component addresses what's accumulated — the residue of years of activation that the body holds even after the original cause is gone.

Marina is direct about this: pure cognitive work doesn't address burnout. Talk therapy provides understanding but rarely produces nervous-system change. The body has to experience genuine safety repeatedly enough that the subconscious updates its model. That requires modalities that work at the body and subconscious level — which is what Marina does.

What changes over a series

After the first session, most clients describe feeling something they haven't felt in months — a genuine settling. That feeling is the parasympathetic state actually engaging. It usually lasts 1-5 days before the old pattern reasserts.

Over the course of a series — typically Marina's 30-Day Soul Alchemy Immersion (four sessions over a month, plus daily recording) — the system learns. The parasympathetic state becomes accessible without the session. Sleep deepens. The Sunday dread loses its grip. Decision-making clarifies. The body remembers what baseline actually feels like.

For deep, multi-year burnout, the work continues beyond the initial month. Marina works with clients in ongoing monthly cadence for the longer reset. She's direct about timeline — no false promises about single-session miracles for what took years to build.

If your system is stuck and rest isn't fixing it

Marina takes time with each inquiry. Reach out with what's actually present — particularly if you've already tried the obvious things and they haven't moved the needle.

Common questions

How is this different from going on vacation?

Vacation removes external triggers but doesn't reset the subconscious pattern that keeps the nervous system activated. Most burnout clients describe coming back from vacation feeling only marginally better — and the activation reasserts within days. Hypnotherapy works on the pattern itself, not the external triggers.

Will I have to talk about everything that caused the burnout?

No. Marina is interested in the pattern, not the inventory of stressors. Cognitive reconstruction of how you got here often isn't the most useful work — the subconscious doesn't need that narrative to update. Marina will ask what's actually present now and work from there.

I've already done therapy for years. Why would hypnotherapy do something different?

Talk therapy works on the conscious mind — articulation, insight, narrative integration. For burnout, the layer that needs to update is below conscious awareness. The nervous system has learned a pattern through years of repetition. It updates through repeated direct experience of a different state, not through reasoning about it. That's the modality difference.

Can this be done virtually?

Yes. Marina works with burnout clients virtually worldwide. The internal work is the same. Many clients prefer virtual because driving home after a deep parasympathetic session is its own friction — virtual lets you integrate in place.

How long does the work take?

Marina typically recommends the 30-Day Soul Alchemy Immersion for burnout — four sessions over a month plus a daily recording. That structure produces the repeated experience of parasympathetic state that the system needs to update. For longer or deeper burnout, ongoing monthly work after the initial month produces sustained reset.

Is this covered by insurance or HSA/FSA?

Most insurance doesn't cover hypnotherapy directly. HSA/FSA accounts often will reimburse it as a wellness expense — coverage varies by plan. Marina can provide a receipt for submission. The investment is direct, which most clients ultimately find clarifying.
